Amy Cushing

18 August 1971 / London SW19

Amy Cushing’s principal source of inspiration is colour and the language it conveys. Her work is material and process led, often abstract and site-specific having been multi-dis- ciplinary trained in Public Art. For 25 years Amy has specialised in colour sequence, experimenting with hot and cold glass, recording results and building a portfolio of techniques. Amy combines kiln-formed art and free blown glass work, often collaborating with master blowers both in the UK and Venice, Italy. Her signature suspended installations weave colour with mesmerising effect creating layered compositions. These delicate non-static artworks float with an ethereal beauty capturing and reflecting light and shadow. More recent hybrid sculptures - Paradise - encapsulate years of experimental techniques; unique forms combined with a meticu- lous ability to paint with glass colours, creating one-off collectible pieces. An established artist, Amy has work in many notable buildings, with a reputation for liais- ing well with clients and completing successful projects in many sectors; corporate, commercial, healthcare, gallery and residential.
